Getting started
These ten steps take a new organisation from nothing to a working setup: boxes connected, events showing, a dashboard, rules and your team signed in. Do them in order; each step needs the one before it.
You need to be an organisation admin. All steps start from the Admin console (avatar → Admin console). Pick your organisation at the top of the console first.
On the Admin console Overview, a Get started card can tick these steps off for you from your live data. This feature may not be enabled for your organisation yet — contact ANSCENTER.
Step 1: Add your boxes to the organisation
Why: a box that does not belong to your organisation cannot show its events under your sites.
- In ANSMIND, open the box and export its device QR code.
- In the Admin console, open Organisations → your organisation → Devices.
- Click Import from QR, then scan the code with Scan with camera, upload the QR image, or paste the device code.
- Check the device under Device to import, choose a site in Assign to site if you already have one, and click Import device.
You can import a box if you are the box owner, an organisation admin, or the account the QR code was restricted to. Use Name this device to give the box a name your team recognises; it changes nothing on the box itself.
Done when: the box is listed on the Devices tab.
Step 2: Create sites and put each box in one
Why: sites let you filter events by place and limit members to the place they work.
- Open Organisations → your organisation → Sites.
- Click Add site, enter the Site name (and an address if you like), then save.
- Assign each box to its site, on the Sites tab or with Assign to site when you import the box.
Done when: every box has a site.
Step 3: Create an ingest key for your boxes
Why: the ingest key is the password a box uses to send events to your organisation in the cloud.
- Open Ingest keys in the Admin console.
- Under New key, type a label such as "Ward box 01" and click Create key.
- Copy the key from Your new ingest key. Then click I have copied it.
The key is shown only once. If you lose it, Revoke it and create a new one. Give each box (or each site) its own key, so you can revoke one without stopping the others.
Done when: the key shows as Active.
Step 4: Connect a box
Why: until a box pushes its events, ANSCMS has nothing to show.
Enter the Platform ingest URL (from the Ingest keys page) and the key in the box's Cloud event push settings in ANSMIND, then switch push on. The full steps are in Connect your boxes.
Done when: the first event from the box has arrived. The key's Last used column also shows a time.
Step 5: Show events: create an event view or apply a template
Why: box events appear on event views, pages that each list the event types you choose. Without a view you will not see them on the Events page.
The quickest way is a template:
- Open Pages & menu → your application → Event views.
- Click Apply template, pick a template under Solution templates (for example Smart ward), and click Apply.
Or build your own view with New view. See Events.
Done when: at least one event view exists.
Step 6: Build a dashboard
Why: a dashboard shows today's numbers at a glance: events today, critical events, top cameras.
- Open Pages & menu → your application → Dashboards.
- Click New dashboard and choose Empty dashboard or From a template.
- Use Add a widget to add numbers and charts, then Save and Add to menu.
See Dashboards & reports.
This feature may not be enabled for your organisation yet — contact ANSCENTER.
Done when: at least one dashboard exists.
Step 7: Add a rule and test it on your data
Why: rules act on events for you, for example a critical alert and a notification when a weapon is seen.
- Open Data & rules → Rules → New rule.
- Pick a ready-made rule from the gallery, fill in the blanks and click Add to the draft.
- Open Test on my data, run the test, then Publish… the draft.
See Data & rules.
This feature may not be enabled for your organisation yet — contact ANSCENTER. If the step is missing from your checklist, rules are not enabled for you.
Done when: at least one rule is switched on.
Step 8: Email a report on a schedule
Why: a daily or weekly report prepared automatically saves someone opening the CMS every morning.
- Open a report (for example Daily summary) and click Email schedule.
- Click New schedule, choose Daily, Weekly or Monthly, the period and the recipients, then save.
See Scheduled reports.
This feature may not be enabled for your organisation yet — contact ANSCENTER. Sending the email itself is available on request; until it is on for you, each scheduled report is still prepared on time and can be downloaded from its History.
Done when: at least one schedule exists.
Step 9: Invite your team
Why: ANSCMS is for the people who watch and act on events, not only for the admin.
- Open Organisations → your organisation → Members.
- Click Add member, enter the email, the application and the App role, and save. For many people at once, use Import CSV (download the template first with Download template).
- To limit someone to one site, set their site scope on the Sites tab.
Tick Organisation admin only for people who manage the organisation. See Members.
Done when: the organisation has at least two members.
Step 10: Choose what members open first
Why: members should land on the page they use most, not on an empty home page.
- Open Default for members.
- Choose the Application, the Site (or All sites) and the Start page.
- Click Save.
This applies to members who have not chosen their own workspace. See Default for members.
Done when: the default is saved.
